Pebbles
5/30/2006 – 1/29/2023
Maltese, 8 1/2 Pounds, 16 Years 8 Month
Our Sweet Angel Pebbles. During her lifetime, she was our only girl, and that’s how she wanted it! She was the Princess and the Ruler of all the boys, and she had no interest in sharing that role with another girl!
You could rarely catch her without her signature feather, or her smile! She used both to stand out in the crowd, attracting lots of attention, and charming anyone who dared to glance her way!
She started out life being a high-strung, quick-tempered gal. With the help of an amazing trainer, we were able to work with her to bring her anxiety and reactiveness down to a manageable level. We focused on obedience and letting her know that we were on top of things, and she could relax and not be so stressed and worried. It was a long, hard road, but we proved that old dogs can learn new tricks! She became a completely different dog! A weight was lifted off her shoulders and happiness was the result!
She was a busybody! Monitoring her brothers’ activities, following Mommy around the house, and barking at everything and everyone! She loved to be heard!
Up until the very last day of her life, she was active! Hiking was her favorite activity! When everything else was going wrong, all you had to do was get her on the hiking trail, and a peace would set in!
For the majority of her life, you would have never guessed her age. She was spunky, sassy, independent and determined, and never let her years get in the way.
At around age 15, she started struggling went dementia. She had good days and bad days. She forgot a lot of things. But she never forgot us. She never forgot how much we loved her, and how much she loved us! Amazingly, we were able to help her navigate a year and a half of the ever-encroaching disease of dementia. We were so blessed to have all that time with her, to travel, to adventure, to make amazing memories together. The decision to say goodbye is always the hardest one, but we knew it was time, and we knew we had been given the gift of time.
We miss her smile, her spunky attitude, her bossiness and her kisses every single day! She has been our greatest teacher, making us better human beings and more knowledge dog parents!
Your Mind, Heart, Body and Soul. Heavenly Healed, Eternally Loved. Forever Will Be a Part of Us.
