#RockNRollMarathon2017
Whew, we are exhausted! This weekend we hosted and entertained out of town guests. We had a blast but wow, it’s going to take all week to recover! Our Aunt Lori & Grandpa came to town to run in the Arizona Rock N Roll Half Marathon. (We think they’re crazy weird!) They brought Grandma with them, and together we all explored, played, ate, drank and got crazy!
Of course, the first thing we did when they got to town was to take them to watch one of our beautiful Arizona sunsets!
See, Grandpa, I told you it was going to be pretty!
Hey, Aunt Lori, you’re photobombing my King of the Mountain pose!
Just cuddling with Dad, trying to stay warm! Once that sun goes down it gets chilly in the desert!
Joey thinks he’s pretty sneaky, snagging Aunt Lori all to himself to watch the sunset.
I may not be able to see it, but my other senses tell me the world is a beautiful place!
It’s like I emerged from a painting! Such exquisite beauty!
Okay, Grandpa, I’m really good at cards. Follow my lead and there’s no way you can lose.
And, I thought my friend Payton’s bed was heaven! Woah…biggest dog bed ever! Surely this was inflated for me!
A hiking we will go! A hiking we will go!
Steady does it, Aunt Lori. Up the mountain and back down, in one piece, please!
Aunt Lori got in a pre-half marathon workout by climbing Thunderbird Mountain with us! Hope she can still move those legs tomorrow!
Queen & King of the Mountain!! That’s right we climbed all the way to the top on our tiny little legs! You’re jealous, we know!
Makes Mommy so happy that Joey can ride along on our hikes. He gets a little antsy during the second half, but for the most part he enjoys the ride!
Whew, that hike was exhausting! I’m just going to rest here with Grandpa.
Do you know what time we had to get up to take Aunt Lori & Grandpa to the run? 4:45 AM…what?!?! We didn’t even know that time existed. And, then after we dropped them off we had time to waste while we waited for the race to start. Not much open at that hour, so, we went to Lowe’s. Where Mom thought it would be entertaining to put us inside gigantic pots. Do we look entertained?
This was more our style. Checking out the comfort of the patio furniture.
Along the run, there are bands playing music to entertain and spur on the runners. We found one of the bands and jammed to them for a bit!
Then, we found our designated spot and waited to see our people! Turns out, everybody is our people!
This will probably not come as a surprise to anyone, but we were the best entertainment of the run! Everyone who passed gave us shout outs. Some even stopped to take selfies. Others stopped to pet us and get kisses! We were definitely the biggest rock stars at the Rock N Roll run!

Yes, please go ahead and take our photo. Really, we don’t mind!
Sometimes, Grandpa gets in a zone and misses what’s going on around him, but he couldn’t miss us! Check out the next video...

This was as close as we could get to the finish line. They had it all gated off because there are so many runners. But, we’ll be ready to cheer on Aunt Lori & Grandpa after they cross!
While we were waiting for them to cross the finish we checked out the Headliner Band…they were a little loud for our taste. We needed those big noise muffling ear muffs, that little kids wear.
Look at that, they did it! Way to go Grandpa & Aunt Lori! You crazy fools, ran 13.1 miles and there weren’t any zombies chasing you!
After the race, we headed to Fountain Hills to check out the art scene, but first we had to make a stop at the world’s fourth tallest fountain. We look teeny tiny and we weren’t anywhere close to the fountain!
Have you ever rode on a turtle before? We can now say, we have. Thanks for the assist, Aunt Lori!
Now off to see sculptures and do some wine tasting. Again, we were the hit of the show. We actually had artists offering to pay us to work in from of their booths. Hey, for the right payment, we are totally down with that!
Seriously, who turned on winter! We were freezing! Mommy stuck us all in the stroller, hoping we could share some body heat!
After, the sculpture show it was off to dinner at OHSO Brewery. We had a blast at their Paradise Valley restaurant! They are amazingly dog friendly, have delicious food, and yummy beers and even had an awesome band to end our night with some loud music…sadly, Pebs was over the loud music.
So proud of Bruiser. He sat on the couch during the entire dinner and never once tried to steal a bit, or kiss the little girl beside us, or charm the waitress into bringing him his own plate of food. He was a model citizen!
Pebbles was very happy to return home, where the music volume was more controlled and she could share her card shark skills with her Aunt Lori.
The only proper send off for Aunt Lori was a good hike for those tired muscles!
And, of course, Joey convinced Aunt Lori that she should carry him down the mountain.
What a weekend! We may never move again!
